These 5 1/4" speakers are smooth yet detailed and very efficient. Being both waterproof and UV resistant these speakers would be great in almost any setting; on your boat, in-wall stereo/home theater or patio. As a stand alone full-range in cabinet – works great in a 1/3 cu ft sealed box - will have depth, detail and highs all without a crossover and separate woofer and tweeters. These speakers are +/- 3 dB from 40 Hz to 19 kHz. The efficiency is at 91 dB so will play well with most decent amps or receivers with at least 25 watts RMS per channel. They are rated at 80 watts continuous and 300 watt peaks. A complete surround with a set of these will blow your mind. The N5's are available in 4 Ohm and replaces the Babb 534. It is usually used in mobile sound (boats and cars). It is also available in 8 Ohm and replaces the Babb 538. It is usually used in home audio / home theater or applications where someone wants to run two 8 Ohm speakers in parallel to get a 4 Ohm load. What do you mean by 4 and 8 Ohm and which should I choose?

4 Ohm is usually chosen for any mobile 12 volt operation - cars, boats, etc. 8 Ohm is usually chosen for 120/220 volt operation - home / home theater. The best way to make a determination is to read the specification in the owners manual of the equipment you are using. In many instances the 4 Ohm and 8 Ohm can be interchangeable although some amplifiers would prefer a particular impedance. As our speakers have very low inductance the impedance is very stable across the frequency spectrum they tend to be very amplifier friendly.

The N5C's are efficient enough to work with most head units (cd players, tape decks, etc.) pushing 25 Watts per channel. No amp, crossovers or other gear is needed, a true plug & play driver!

If you are looking for a bit more oomph then hookup a good amp, these babies will handle 80W RMS and up to 300W.
