• Tweeter degradation. Every Wet Sounds and Clarion OEM speaker Malibu has ever installed uses a tweeter. UV stiffens the dome, moisture corrodes the voice coil, and high frequencies disappear — typically within 4–7 seasons.
• Crossover corrosion. Passive crossover components degrade in the humid, sun-exposed environment of a wakeboard boat. Signal degradation is gradual and often goes unnoticed until the speakers sound dramatically worse than when new.
• Surround failure. UV exposure breaks down foam and rubber surrounds over time. Bass output drops, distortion increases.

Classic or Reference — Which Is Right for Your Malibu?
