• Tweeter failure. Every coaxial speaker Supra has ever installed uses a tweeter. UV stiffens the dome, moisture corrodes the voice coil, and high frequencies disappear — typically within 4–7 seasons of regular use.
• Crossover degradation. Passive crossover components corrode in the humid, sun-exposed cockpit environment. The speakers sound progressively duller until they fail entirely.
• Surround failure. Foam and rubber surrounds lose compliance under UV exposure. Bass output drops, distortion increases.

What Size Speakers Does My Supra Use?

Most Supra in-hull cockpit and bow positions use standard 6.5" cutouts. DC Gold's N7C and N7R have a 6.23" cutout diameter and a 7.4" face OD — they drop directly into those positions with no modification. Tower speakers use proprietary enclosures and are addressed separately.

Not sure what your Supra uses? Pull one speaker and measure the hole in the fiberglass — not the speaker, the cutout. If your factory hole is slightly smaller than the DC Gold cutout, fiberglass enlarges easily with a standard hole saw. If slightly larger, a trim plate covers the gap — available at West Marine or any marine hardware supplier.
